About this grant
United Way Belarus is a national resource center that provides training, information, consulting and communication services to non-governmental organizations (NGOs) throughout Belarus.Multiyear funding will support activities that include providing online consulting services on legal, accounting, information management and fundraising; instituting a program, "Week of Help," for experts to visit and work directly with a regional NGO for a week; publishing updated directories and manuals, along with its information bulletin, "United Way News"; identifying and conducting research on NGO activity and trends in the nonprofit sector; conducting training workshops for volunteers, particularly students; introducing a civil education program to the Belarusian education system; cooperating with Ukrainian NGO resource centers; and organizing an international conference called "Civil Initiatives for Social Stability in the Period of Transition: Belarus – Germany."During the past two years, accomplishments included offering approximately 200 individual consultations each month; establishing a "Lawyers Club" to promote joint efforts of lawyers; developing and maintaining six databases; and publishing various directories, handbooks and "United Way News."
