About this grant
Great Lakes United plays a vital role within the environmental community by networking and coordinating the efforts of environmental groups and others throughout the Great Lakes basin. Multiyear funding will support continuing efforts to implement Annex 2001 at the state and provincial levels; review the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement; increase and diversify revenues; and maintain current program activities including participating in the Great Lakes Regional Collaborative and related restoration initiatives, improving the management of aquatic invasive species, and reducing toxic pollution in the Great Lakes.Recent achievements included partnering with other groups to help implement the Great Lakes Charter Annex 2001 agreement; participating in the Great Lakes Regional Collaborative; promoting steps to address the economic and ecological threats posed by aquatic invasive species; and developing a range of reinforcing strategies to reduce toxic pollution.
