About this grant

Hurricane Katrina brought national attention to the need to restore Louisiana’s wetlands, natural river systems, and barrier shorelines to improve storm protection, as well as to enhance water quality and habitat. New federal and state initiatives are being proposed that could have significant beneficial impacts on coastal Louisiana. With previous support, the Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana, a leader in coastal restoration, has promoted policies that protect and restore the coastal environment, including programs that would restore natural river flows whenever practicable. Renewal support will enable the coalition to maximize new opportunities that have emerged post-Katrina, including promoting citizen engagement in restoration projects and supporting the development of new beneficial policies.
