About this grant
The Coalition to Restore Coastal Louisiana works to protect and restore Louisiana’s coastline, which includes important wetlands and their associated freshwater sources. With past support, the coalition helped coordinate federal, state, and local efforts to protect Louisiana’s coastal areas and reinstate natural freshwater flows when practical. This grant will be available for general purposes, but it is anticipated the funds will be used to help the organization respond to the BP oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico that threatens the area’s delicate coastal wetlands. Efforts will include serving as a statewide volunteer coordinator, facilitating the national and local environmental community’s joint response, and developing a scientific recovery strategy.
