About this grant
The Southern Center for International Studies convenes annual meetings of former U.S. secretaries of state and defense, world leaders, and leading foreign affairs journalists to discuss current foreign policy and national security issues facing the United States. A one-hour television program is developed from each meeting.Multiyear funding will enable the center to produce a minimum of two conferences and programs during the next two years. Proposed subjects include: "The Former Secretaries of Defense: The Search for Security After 9/11"; and "The Angry Believers: Faith and Foreign Policy Since 9/11." In addition, these programs are also the source of social studies curriculum in high schools and college-level world/foreign affairs courses offered by the World Affairs Councils of America.
