About this grant
This grant will enable the Center for Community Change to continue providing seed grants and technical assistance to emerging community-based organizations serving low-income neighborhoods. The Intermediary Support for Organizing Communities (ISO) program was established in 1979 to increase citizen participation in democratic processes, especially in low-income communities. Since then, it has evolved into a community-organizing strategy that seeks to build and strengthen the institutional capacity of neighborhood-development organizations.Funding will support the center’s work in the Northwest and Mid-Atlantic regions. Its role as an intermediary is to identify emerging groups for support, administer a small grants program, coordinate grantee technical assistance, organize grantee meetings, maintain program data and records, assist with project evaluation activities, and participate in network meetings.The center has been a participant in the program since 1980 and is one of six intermediary organizations receiving grants as part of Mott’s 2005 ISO program.
