About this grant
This renewal provides general purposes support for the Harlem Children’s Zone, a comprehensive, community-building initiative designed to improve outcomes for poor children and their families in Central Harlem. Working with the entire community to address the needs of the children in the zone from birth to early adulthood, the Harlem Children’s Zone will continue to develop new programs and strengthen existing ones to provide a full spectrum of services for children and their parents. This Phase III expansion includes increasing its service area from 60 to 100 blocks, increasing its scale of service for seven core programs, adding an afterschool program for children in middle and high school not already attending the Promise Academy Charter School, and launching a longitudinal evaluation study.
