About this grant

This grant will provide continued general purposes support to the Salem Housing Community Development Corporation, formerly Salem Housing Task Force. Created in 1984 by five neighborhood organizations and a church, its mission is to improve family living conditions by providing safe, decent, and affordable housing for families of limited income and to act as a catalyst to restore the neighborhoods within its service area, 132 blocks in northwest Flint. In 2007, Salem Housing activities will include: sweat-equity and lease-to-purchase homeownership, owner-occupied rehabilitation, project development, property management, homeownership counseling, and community building.
