About this grant
Currently in its 12th year, the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative (SFAI) was created to strengthen the contributions of state-level organizations in policy debates by enhancing their ability to improve the balance and quality of fiscal policy discussions, and ultimately to improve the policy outcomes for the most vulnerable members of society. Organizations participating in the initiative analyze critical budget and tax issues; help policymakers and others understand fiscal policy; and disseminate information that can be used to shape policies that affect the lives of low-income families.Multiyear funding will enable the center to pursue objectives that include enhancing public understanding of the government’s role in improving the lives of ordinary people; strengthening democratic participation in the shaping of public policy by increasing access to information; investigating and promoting policy options that protect the economic security of low-income people; and providing training for state agencies. This is one of 10 Mott grants recommended to state organizations as part of the SFAI.
