About this grant

The Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center is one of ten state organizations participating in the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative. The Ford, Annie E. Casey, and Mott Foundations created the initiative in 1992 in order to build state capacity for timely, credible, and accessible tax and budget analyses on behalf of low- and middle-income families. The Massachusetts Budget and Policy Center joined this effort in 1994 and is recognized throughout Massachusetts as an authoritative source of information and analysis. This grant increase will enable the center to implement the Community Leadership Fellowship Program – a direct effort to promote a more diverse analytical staff in order to better reflect the state and communities the organization represents. The grantee will continue to prepare and disseminate analyses on a range of state fiscal issues, with a particular emphasis on state and local tax policies and income support programs. Other activities planned for the grant period include community outreach, strategic communications, and coalition building.
