About this grant
The Michigan Individual Development Account (IDA) Partnership was established in 2000 by the Council of Michigan Foundations and the Michigan Family Independence Agency. The goals of the partnership were to build the capacity of nonprofit community-based organizations to develop and manage IDA programs; increase resources for state IDA efforts; document IDA best practices; create at least 2,000 IDAs in low-income communities throughout Michigan; and encourage state policy development.Multiyear funding will enable the council to devolve its partnership roles and responsibilities to the Community Economic Development Association of Michigan. During the transition, activities will include transitioning roles and establishing support for the IDA program networks; creating an institutional base for the Asset Building Policy Project; and increasing understanding of and support for asset-building policies in Michigan.
