About this grant
This grant supports the Funders’ Network for Smart Growth and Livable Communities, a network of over 140 foundations from across the country. Its mission is to inspire, strengthen, and expand funding and philanthropic leadership that yields environmentally sustainable, socially equitable, and economically prosperous regions and communities. The grantee’s strategies are to coordinate funder education, information sharing, and relationship development; facilitate strategic initiatives and collaborations; and cultivate emerging funder interest and new opportunities for funder engagement. Services include an annual conference, publications and electronic communications, a monthly series of topical conference calls, outreach and education, and consulting services. Recent accomplishments include deepening relationships between foundations and public sector programs such as the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Sustainable Communities Regional Planning and Strong Cities Strong Communities programs, and connecting local, regional, and national funders to each other in specific areas of interest such as older industrial cities and transportation reform.
