About this grant
This grant will support the Youth Transition Funders Group (YTFG), a collaboration of 30 foundations and a national network of more than 200 local, regional and national grantmakers committed to ensuring that young people between the ages of 16 and 24 are connected to support systems and institutions that enable them to become productive adults.Funding will enable YTFG to build internal capacity; explore strategic partnerships with key organizations; support funder collaborations by convening network members and workgroups biannually; establish common communications; focus on systems change and effective solutions through partnerships with leading national groups to improve policies and reform public care systems that serve youth; and explore ways to engage youth more effectively through networks such as the Community Justice Network for Youth.During the past year, YTFG worked with the U.S. Departments of Labor, Education, Health and Human Services, and Justice in convening state forums on vulnerable youth; worked with advocacy groups to develop legislative strategies and recommendations to better serve and reconnect vulnerable youth; identified approaches to elevate the issues affecting vulnerable youth; and assisted in the development of strategies to reconnect dropouts and near dropouts to quality learning options in five cities.
