About this grant
The goal of the Fathers at Work Initiative (FWI) is to reduce poverty by supporting six workforce development organizations that increase employment, earnings and parental engagement among low-income, non-custodial fathers under age 30. Many low-income men may be willing to support their children but don’t earn enough to support them because of their lack of employment skills. Through the STRIVE program, Suburban Job-Link provides the required services to low-income, non-custodial fathers.Funding will enable Suburban Job-Link to provide employment training, placement and support services to the low-income men already enrolled in the FWI program; work collaboratively with the Chicago-area child support enforcement system to assist with the management of participants’ child support orders; integrate the FWI series into other workforce development programs; and collect and provide outcome data to Public/Private Ventures.
