About this grant

The goal of the Fathers at Work Initiative (FWI) is to reduce poverty by supporting six workforce development organizations that increase employment, earnings and parental engagement among low-income, non-custodial fathers under age 30. Many low-income men may be willing to support their children but don’t earn enough to support them because of their lack of employment skills. Rubicon Programs Incorporated provides the required services to low-income, non-custodial fathers.Funding will enable Rubicon to provide employment training, placement and support services to low-income men already enrolled in the FWI program; collaborate with the child support enforcement system to assist with the management of participants’ child support orders; integrate FWI services into its other workforce development programs; explore ways to continue services to young fathers; and collect and provide outcome data to Public/Private Ventures.During the past three years, Rubicon has provided services to 300 low-income, non-custodial fathers.
