About this grant
This grant provides renewal support to the Association for Research on Nonprofit Organizations & Voluntary Action, a leading interdisciplinary community of people dedicated to fostering — through research and education — the creation, application, and dissemination of knowledge on nonprofit organizations, philanthropy, civil society, and voluntary action. Now in its 42nd year and with more than 1,100 members, the grantee brings together both theoretical and applied interests, helping scholars gain insight into the day-to-day concerns of third-sector organizations. Principal activities have included an annual conference, publications including the "Nonprofit and Voluntary Sector Quarterly", electronic discussions, and special interest groups. The grantee’s main goals are to: 1) locate and invite new members while retaining current members; 2) build and sustain useful partnerships among academic institutions and sector infrastructure organizations; 3) further develop and enrich a continuing dialogue between university-based researchers and nonprofit practitioners; and 4) strengthen the organization.
