About this grant

The project goal is to protect and promote minority rights by contributing to the implementation of international standards and domestic legislation in Southeast Europe, including Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro, and Serbia. To this end, Minority Rights Group International will continue to work with a network of local, minority rights nongovernmental organizations on organizational capacity, research, and advocacy. Over the past three years, with the grantee’s assistance and financial support, these organizations have successfully carried out research, participated in international meetings and conferences, and monitored implementation of complex laws and treaties. With its emphasis on empowerment and capacity building for local organizations, this project is part of the grantee’s long-term exit strategy for this region. The grantee is based in London and has significant experience in research and advocacy on minority rights and participation throughout the world.
