About this grant
This grant continues general purpose support to the Association of Small Foundations, a national membership organization for trustee-operated foundations with few or no staff. As the number of new foundations grows, this association plays an increasingly important role in pulling trustees of new foundations into a supportive network where they can receive high quality information on managing and administering their foundations. This association is the largest philanthropy support organization in the country with 3,106 members whose assets total $67 billion. Through conferences, seminars, mentoring programs, and production and distribution of guides, handbooks, primers, and directories, the Association of Small Foundations provides technical assistance and general information to its members assisting them to become more effective grantmakers. Over the next two years, among its wide variety of offerings, the association will give particular attention to helping its members in evaluating impact, trustee leadership, understanding legislation and policy, and investment management.
