About this grant

The Trustee Leadership Seminar series was created to strengthen foundations with few or no staff by providing training that will improve their overall governance and management, ultimately increasing their effectiveness as grantmakers. Training is provided to teach small foundation leaders about tax and legal issues, grantmaking and board responsibilities.Multiyear funding will enable the Association of Small Foundations (ASF) to conduct nine seminars, six in conjunction with regional meetings and one in conjunction with an annual conference. ASF will continue to refine the program to address the needs of both family and non-family foundations, as well as to balance the needs of new grantmakers with those having more experience.During the past two years, ASF conducted eight seminars, with 376 trustees attending.
