About this grant

Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy (AAPIP) is a grantmaker affinity group committed to expanding the participation and leadership of the Asian-American community in the philanthropic sector. For the past fifteen years, the organization has offered a wide range of services and programs to enhance and increase philanthropy by and for Asian Americans. Multiyear funding will enable AAPIP to increase membership and explore the development of new chapters in regions where Asian-American communities are growing; organize leadership development events at the chapter level, such as examining different forms of giving circles and evaluating the concept of an Asian Giving Circle; conduct research related to impacts on the social health and well-being of the Asian-American community; and complete and disseminate a report analyzing 20 years of giving to Asian-American communities by the top 20 foundations.Recent accomplishments included increasing membership by 17 percent and establishing new chapters in the Northwest and Metropolitan Washington, D.C. areas; implementing leadership development programs; and disseminating a major report entitled "Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim, and South Asian Communities in the San Francisco Bay Area: An Introduction to Grantmakers."
