About this grant

This grant provides general purpose support to Asian Americans/Pacific Islanders in Philanthropy, a grantmaker affinity group whose long-term goals are to increase philanthropic resources to Asian American/Pacific Islander communities; build the infrastructure of the community by creating and testing new approaches to social justice philanthropy; promote equity, diversity, and leadership in the philanthropic sector; and strengthen the network of individuals and institutions to engage and take action to build democratic philanthropy. Some of the group’s achievements include a national gender and equity campaign to support community organizations to integrate gender analysis into their work; a civic engagement fund to support Arab, Middle Eastern, Muslim, and South Asian community-based organizations; and a public-private partnership with the White House initiative in Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders. Among the group’s efforts over the next few years will be to expand its nationwide giving circle network from 26 to 50 by the end of 2015.
