About this grant
The Bretton Woods Project of ActionAid has played a key role on international financial institution reform issues since it was established in 1995. It works with nongovernmental organizations, researchers, and officials to scrutinize and reform policies and practices of international financial institutions, particularly the World Bank and International Monetary Fund. During the recent grant period, the Bretton Woods Project was successful in changing the British government’s position on requiring targets that would rapidly move the World Bank toward a low-carbon energy portfolio. The Bretton Woods Project will continue in its multiple roles as a clearinghouse for information and research; an advisor to nongovernmental organization networks working on reform of international financial institutions based in the United Kingdom, other European and developing countries; a catalyst for strategy development and policy discussions; an interlocutor between nongovernmental organizations and British government officials; and a source for information on international financial institutions and their policies and practices for the media.
