About this grant
The Mexican Center for Philanthropy was created to promote a philanthropic culture in Mexico and to strengthen citizen participation in addressing social problems. Members include more than 500 foundations, corporations, individuals and nonprofit organizations in Mexico.Funding will enable the center to promote philanthropy; increase membership; form a new affinity group around family or independent philanthropy; provide information, including translating Web material to English; participate in public policy work pertaining to the nonprofit sector and philanthropy in Mexico; connect international nonprofit and philanthropic networks; and conduct an evaluation of its programs.Accomplishments during the past two years included advocating for a favorable federal law on nonprofit organizations; conducting nine seminars on corporate giving; initiating a national effort on volunteering; translating nonprofit governance texts from English to Spanish; and convening the Mexican network of community foundations.
