About this grant
Since the Dayton Peace Accord was signed in 1995, the World Conference of Religions for Peace (WCRP) has worked to create trust and collaboration among religious communities in the Western Balkans. Multiyear funding will enable WCRP to strengthen existing interreligious councils on Bosnia and Herzegovina and Kosovo; institute a new interreligious council on Albania; promote the role of women and youth from religious communities in the peace process; and launch a regional network of interreligious leaders and women of faith who can collectively promote peace, reconciliation and conflict prevention throughout the Western Balkans.Since the establishment of national interreligious councils in 1996, WCRP has contributed to the peace process by educating civil society through radio program, documentary films and publications that promote unity and interreligious dialogue. In addition, interreligious youth associations have been established in Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina to promote religious tolerance and reconciliation.
