About this grant
The program goal is to further the development of community foundations in Russia. Through this program, the Charities Aid Foundation will award small grants for start-up and consolidation of new community foundations, as well as targeted grants to strengthen regional alliances and to identify meaningful models for effecting social change. In the difficult economic circumstances of 2009-2010, community foundations used challenge grants to raise four times as much from local resources. Additional technical and financial support resulted in the establishment of five regional alliances, which are well-positioned to allow members to exchange experience efficiently and to advance their collective interests more effectively. The grantee distributes more than $500 million annually to charitable causes worldwide on behalf of individual, corporate, and trust clients. Based in the United Kingdom, it has offices in Russia, Australia, Bulgaria, India, South Africa, and the United States.
