About this grant

The program goal is to further the development of community foundations in Russia. Through this program, the Charities Aid Foundation will award small grants for start-up and consolidation of new community foundations, as well as targeted grants to strengthen regional alliances and to identify meaningful models for effecting social change. In 2011-2012, the program saw the establishment of six new community foundations that raised over $240,000 from local sources, or eight times the value of program-funded challenge grants. Additional technical and financial support resulted in the strengthening of five regional alliances. Two such alliances adapted influential social indicator methodologies that helped identify key social policy challenges and resource opportunities in their respective regions. The Charities Aid Foundation distributes more than $500 million annually to charitable causes worldwide on behalf of individual, corporate, and trust clients. Based in the United Kingdom, it has offices in Russia, Australia, Bulgaria, India, South Africa, and the United States.
