About this grant
The Centre for Public Participation, originally a project of the Black Sash, was created to facilitate community participation in governance processes in KwaZulu-Natal. Multiyear funding will assist the center in its transition from a project into an independent organization. Objectives include building the center’s capacity to provide community training and advocacy interventions to hold government accountable for good governance; increasing the participation of non-governmental and community-based organizations in government processes, particularly at the local level; providing information, networking, training, research and advocacy support to strengthen advocacy interventions; and advocating for effective government mechanisms to encourage public participation in governance.
