About this grant
The mission of the Local Activity Support Center – CAL Association is to develop strong communities by strengthening local solidarity, unlocking local resources and mobilizing local institutions to respond to the needs of their constituencies. The association began as an informal partnership of three institutions in 1997.Multiyear funding will support objectives that include providing training and other forms of support to individuals and institutions working with the CAL method; training approximately 200 people in community development and "social animation" through the School for Social Animators; and extending the Citizen Reporter program to provide increased support and information to people interested in community development.Recent accomplishments included establishing strict standards and principles for both individuals and institutions working with the CAL method in order to achieve maximum effectiveness; and training more than 200 people from 63 communities.
