About this grant
The People’s Institute for Survival and Beyond, based in New Orleans, focuses on antiracist training and community organizing. Despite having lost its office space, database and hardware as a result of Hurricane Katrina, its services and perspectives continue to be needed during the rebuilding of New Orleans.Funding will assist the institute in its overall operations during 2006, including re-establishing its New Orleans office; establishing organizing committees in Atlanta, Baton Rouge, Dallas, Houston and Memphis, where the majority of Gulf Coast residents have been displaced; producing a national newsletter; conducting regular Undoing Racism trainings throughout the U.S.; and providing ongoing training and technical assistance in more than 15 communities.
