About this grant
The National Center for Black Philanthropy was established following the first two conferences on black philanthropy and its flagship event remains the biennial conference on African-American giving, volunteering and organized philanthropy.Funding will support the fourth National Conference on Black Philanthropy in Atlanta, Georgia, on June 12-14, 2003. The conference will explore unique strategies or approaches that have solved problems and led to successful outcomes in the areas of personal giving, grantmaking, fundraising and faith-based philanthropy. Key elements of the conference will include 40 concurrent workshops, 25 to 30 roundtable sessions, two to four speakers and panels and an awards dinner; participation by 600 to 800 professionals involved in black philanthropy; the presentation of in-depth pre-conference workshops; and publication of the proceedings.Highlights of the third national conference included five featured speakers, 53 concurrent workshops and four speakers sessions and panels; presentations by noted leaders in the field of philanthropy; pre-conference workshops that covered themes such as endowment development and management; and increased coverage by the media.
