About this grant

This grant provides partial support to the National Center for Black Philanthropy, Inc., to plan and hold the sixth National Conference on Black Philanthropy, scheduled for June 27-29, 2007, in Washington, D.C., entitled, "Philanthropy and the Covenant with Black America." The conference theme is based on Tavis Smiley’s book, "The Covenant with Black America" and philanthropy’s response to the book and the issues it raises. The conference is expected to draw 400-500 people and will include a "Hands-on Philanthropy Day," in which conference registrants donate time to work on a local community project. Other conference elements include pre-conference workshops, roundtables, panels, an awards dinner, and a prayer breakfast.
