About this grant
This grant will enable the International Center for Not-for-Profit Law to continue providing technical assistance in the drafting and implementation of legislation affecting non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and the development of philanthropy in Ukraine. The center also will undertake educational initiatives for lawyers, government officials, parliamentarians, and NGO leaders on legislation and legal issues affecting the nonprofit sector.Recent accomplishments included publishing and distributing numerous books, handbooks and manuals on NGO legislation, taxation of NGOs and public financing of NGOs; building NGO capacity in the areas of social contracting and citizen participation in decisionmaking; and providing information, consulting and training to Ukrainian NGOs, government officials, members of parliament and their staff, and representatives of international organizations.The center, established in 1993, is the only international organization providing a full range of legal services for the support and development of the legal and regulatory structure governing civil society and the nonprofit sector in emerging and developed countries around the world.
