About this grant
This grant provides continued general purpose support to the National Committee for Responsive Philanthropy, an organization dedicated to promoting philanthropy that serves the public good, is responsive to people and communities with the least wealth and opportunity, and is held accountable to the highest standards of integrity and openness. Besides its routine monitoring activities, over the past two years the committee has conducted research and published reports on issues in philanthropy including alternative workplace funds, strategic grantmaking in school privatization, nonprofit core operating support, and the impact of bank mergers on charitable giving. In addition to its regular watchdog activities, in the near term the committee will implement two major programs — one on grantmaking for community impact and the other on developing a set of measurable criteria for foundations to enhance the public good. The committee also will reposition its communications and increase its advocacy efforts.
