About this grant
Social Change Assistance Trust is a grantmaking organization established in 1984 that predominantly funds rural organizations in order to improve the quality of life in their communities. It supports programs that address access to justice, gender equality, youth development, and local economic development. Past support assisted the grantee to fund and support community-based organizations in the Eastern Cape, Free State, Northern Cape, and Western Cape provinces. Over the past two years, the grantee also supported gardening projects in the Northern Cape province. This grant will support the grantee to continue to fund community-based organizations, including community advice offices; train and mentor paralegals and management committees in community advice offices; explore the establishment of a youth fund; and strengthen community-driven philanthropy by encouraging local fundraising.
