About this grant
The Community Foundation Services program of the National Center for Family Philanthropy (NCFP) helps community foundations work with donor families. Since wealthy families are a major source of donations for community foundations, there is a need for these foundations to understand the dynamics of families in philanthropy. Funding will enable NCFP to employ current technology to improve its work in family philanthropy. The Family Philanthropy Online (FP Online) Knowledge Center will provide community foundations and their donors with 24-hour access to a searchable database of stories, case studies, discussion papers and checklists on topics related to family giving, as well as access to NCFP’s newsletter, seminar agendas and publications. A primary element of FP Online will be an online toolkit for community foundation to use in working with families. In addition, funding will support a national summit that will convene a select group of community foundation executives to explore critical issues and opportunities regarding family philanthropy.During the past year, NCFP convened a series of six community foundation workshops throughout the United States; began developing FP Online; and began planning the Community Foundation CEO Summit on Family Philanthropy to be held in 2004.
