About this grant
This project supports a network of five regional resource centers for non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and informal citizen groups throughout Romania. The centers provide information, training and technical assistance to increase the capacity of NGOs as well as facilitate services that promote cooperation within the nonprofit sector and between the nonprofit sector and the government and business sectors.Multiyear funding will support activities including producing a report about the state of the nonprofit sector in the regions where the centers are active; supporting staff development at the centers; encouraging self-assessment among NGOs; providing support for local and regional NGO events; and designing a consultation mechanism between local NGOs and local government, especially concerning local strategies and budgets.Accomplishments during the past two years included establishing four new centers; developing ongoing communication, cooperation and sharing among the five centers; providing quality training; disseminating relevant information about NGO programs and best practices; and organizing a series of meetings between NGOs, local governments, businesses, media and universities.
