About this grant
The hydropower dam relicensing process offers an opportunity to repair and circumvent some of the harm dams can cause to the health of freshwater ecosystems. American Rivers, a national voice for river conservation, provides technical assistance, policy expertise, and capacity-building assistance to conservation groups involved with hydropower project relicensing. With continued Mott support, the grantee will work to secure new licenses in the Southeast that will protect aquatic resources, ensure the proper implementation of recently granted licenses in the Great Lakes region, and promote improvements to federal policies that will make it easier to accomplish conservation objectives at the local level.
