About this grant
The National Alliance for Volunteer Action (NAVA) created the Rebirth of Volunteerism in Bulgaria project to revive the traditions of volunteerism in Bulgaria and change society’s attitudes toward volunteering. NAVA works with and supports a network of volunteer centers throughout the country.Multiyear funding will enable the alliance to establish an in-house volunteer resource center; conduct training and organize expert consultation services; disseminate information related to volunteerism in Bulgaria; promote best practices in the field of volunteerism; raise public awareness about the need for an enabling legal environment for volunteerism; and build the capacity of and expand the network of volunteer centers. Recent accomplishments included establishing a network of seven volunteer centers throughout Bulgaria; developing standards for specific services provided by volunteers; participating in a national task force on volunteerism; and organizing two national conferences to promote volunteerism.
