About this grant

The project goal is to promote and develop volunteerism in Bulgaria by strengthening the capacity and outreach of a national network of volunteer centers. The National Alliance for Volunteer Action will work with its partners in the network to strengthen and coordinate training and capacity building services, facilitate joint initiatives of the network of local volunteer centers, and promote best practice in volunteer recruitment and management. In addition, the grantee will strengthen its organizational capacity and financial sustainability. Since its establishment in 2000, the grantee has created a network of regional and local volunteer centers, developed national standards for volunteer management, and raised public awareness about volunteerism in Bulgaria. In 2011-2012, the grantee established two new local volunteer centers and mobilized over 1,500 volunteers for each of its four national volunteer campaigns. The grantee is based in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, and works internationally.
