About this grant
Currently in its 12th year, the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative (SFAI) was created to strengthen the contributions of state-level organizations in policy debates by enhancing their ability to improve the balance and quality of fiscal policy discussions, and ultimately to improve the policy outcomes for the most vulnerable members of society. Organizations participating in the initiative analyze critical budget and tax issues; help policymakers and others understand fiscal policy; and disseminate information that can be used to shape policies that affect the lives of low-income families.Multiyear funding will enable the center to analyze the District of Columbia’s budget trends and priorities; produce reports on budget trends, revenues and expenditures; prepare accessible education materials for other nonprofit organizations; and educate advocates, the media and policymakers about budget and fiscal issues through briefings and public outreach. This is one of 10 Mott grants recommended to state organizations as part of the SFAI.
