About this grant
The Ford, Casey, and Mott foundations created the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative in 1992 in order to build state capacity for timely, credible, and accessible tax and budget analysis on behalf of low- and middle-income families. This grant will enable the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, a longtime Mott grantee and State Fiscal Analysis Initiative coordinator, to incubate a new fiscal project in the District of Columbia. The new project will be part of the broader initiative and will undertake a variety of efforts to establish its reputation as a credible research effort. Anticipated activities include: analyzing the district’s budget trends and priorities; producing reports on budget trends, revenues, and expenditures; preparing accessible education materials for other nonprofit organizations; and educating advocates, the media, and policymakers through briefings and public outreach.
