About this grant

This is one of ten grants recommended to state organizations participating in the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative. The Ford, Casey, and Mott foundations created this initiative in 1992 in order to build state capacity for timely, credible, and accessible tax and budget analysis on behalf of low- and middle-income families. The District of Columbia Fiscal Policy Institute project was created in 2001 and, since that time, has become recognized as an authoritative source of information and analysis. Over the next two years, the grantee will analyze the district’s budget trends and priorities; produce reports on budget trends, revenues, and expenditures; prepare accessible education materials for other nonprofit organizations; and educate advocates, the media, and policymakers through briefings and public outreach. Related to this project is another Mott grant to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, which analyzes federal budget and tax policy issues and provides technical assistance to the 41 state organizations participating in this initiative.
