About this grant

This is one of ten grants recommended to state organizations as part of the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative. The initiative was created by the Mott, Ford, and Casey foundations in 1992 in order to build state capacity for timely, credible, and accessible budget and tax analysis on behalf of low- and middle-income families. This grant will enable the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities — a longtime Mott grantee — to continue the District of Columbia state fiscal project, which began in 2001 and has become an authoritative source of information and analysis on issues facing low- and moderate-income residents in the nation’s capital. During the grant period, the grantee will produce and disseminate analyses across a range of economic and social policy issues, with a particular emphasis on tax policies and income support programs. Additional activities planned for the grant period include community outreach and strategic communications. In addition to housing the DC Fiscal Policy Institute, the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities analyzes federal budget and tax policy issues and provides technical assistance to all 41organizations participating in the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative.
