About this grant

Currently in its 12th year, the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative (SFAI) was created to strengthen the contributions of state-level organizations in policy debates by enhancing their ability to improve the balance and quality of fiscal policy discussions, and ultimately to improve the policy outcomes for the most vulnerable members of society. Organizations participating in the initiative analyze critical budget and tax issues; help policymakers and others understand fiscal policy; and disseminate information that can be used to shape policies that affect the lives of low-income families.Multiyear funding will support activities that include documenting the impact of successive rounds of budget reductions on public services and on low- and moderate-income communities; building long-term support for reforming the state’s budget process; minimizing the impact of budget reductions on programs that benefit low-income Californians; and increasing the ability of the state tax system to provide sufficient resources to support quality public services. This is one of 10 Mott grants recommended to state organizations as part of the SFAI.
