About this grant

The main objective of the Inter Ethnic Initiative for Human Rights Foundation is to promote mutual understanding, equal participation and cooperation among different ethnic, religious and linguistic groups in Bulgaria. Multiyear funding will enable the foundation to promote and monitor participation of minority representatives in local, national and regional strategic planning; provide training and technical assistance to non-governmental organizations, businesses and public authorities to raise awareness about minority and human rights; develop public and media campaigns to counteract stereotypes and prejudice in the media; strengthen the Inter Ethnic Development Fund; and participate in international and regional activities that address minority rights and development.Recent achievements included working in 37 schools to enhance awareness of diversity and human-rights issues among teachers, students and parents; integrating a multidisciplinary approach to working with Roma communities; awarding 40 grants through the Inter Ethnic Development Fund; and hosting a regional conference on minority rights and development.
