About this grant

Currently in its 12th year, the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative (SFAI) was created to strengthen the contributions of state-level organizations in policy debates by enhancing their ability to improve the balance and quality of fiscal policy discussions, and ultimately to improve the policy outcomes for the most vulnerable members of society. Organizations participating in the initiative analyze critical budget and tax issues; help policymakers and others understand fiscal policy; and disseminate information that can be used to shape policies that affect the lives of low-income families.Funding will enable the center to educate broader audiences about Colorado’s fiscal structures and the effect they have on the state’s long-term ability to provide adequate services; strengthen collaboration between state and national community groups working on tax, budget and low-income issues; and identify new alliances and avenues to advance strategies that promote greater economic self-sufficiency for low-income people. This is one of 10 Mott grants recommended to state organizations as part of the SFAI.
