About this grant
This is one of ten grants recommended to state organizations as part of the State Fiscal Analysis Initiative. The Ford, Annie E. Casey, and Mott Foundations created the initiative in 1992 in order to build state capacity for timely, credible, and accessible tax and budget analysis on behalf of low- and middle-income families. The Colorado Center on Law and Policy joined this effort in 1999, forming the Colorado Fiscal Policy Institute. Since then, the organization has become recognized as an authoritative source of information and analysis in the state. During this grant period, the grantee will prepare and disseminate analyses on a range of state fiscal issues, with a particular emphasis on the state’s fiscal health and stability, state and local tax policies affecting low-income families, and economic policies that affect working families. In addition, they will conduct outreach and provide training for a wide range of nonprofit agencies in their state. Related to this project is a grant to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities, which provides technical assistance to all 36 state organizations participating in this initiative.
