About this grant

The Association for Enterprise Opportunity is the national trade association of organizations committed to micro-enterprise development. Its mission is to increase the capacity of self-employment organizations and to advocate for individuals and organizations dedicated to expanding enterprise opportunity for people and communities with limited access to resources.Funding will enable the association to continue providing important services to micro-enterprise practitioners. Objectives include conducting national advocacy and policy development activities for the micro-enterprise industry; delivering quality training and technical assistance to micro-enterprise development providers; creating partnerships and alliances with affiliated national, regional and state-level organizations involved in micro-enterprise or community economic development; and providing services to members to assist in continued development of the micro-enterprise industry across the United States.Recent accomplishments included conducting four regional training institutes and the 13th annual conference; supporting the development of state micro-enterprise associations in Alabama, Mississippi and West Virginia; and presenting draft standards for micro-enterprise performance.
