About this grant
This grant will provide continued support to the Association for Enterprise Opportunity (AEO), the national trade association of organizations dedicated to micro-enterprise development. Since being established in 1991, AEO has worked to strengthen the capacity of self-employment organizations that serve people and communities with limited economic resources.Funding will enable AEO to pursue objectives that include conducting national advocacy and policy development activities for the micro-enterprise industry; delivering quality training and technical assistance to micro-enterprise development providers and potential providers; creating innovative partnerships and strategic alliances with affiliated national, regional and state-level organizations involved in micro-enterprise or community economic development; and providing services to AEO members that contribute to the continued development of the micro-enterprise industry across the country.Recent accomplishments included holding four regional training institutes; conducting the 14th annual conference and membership meeting; supporting the development of state micro-enterprise associations in Michigan, Mississippi, Washington and West Virginia; and being selected by the Small Business Administration (SBA) to develop and manage their National Training Conference for SBA Microloan Intermediaries and Non-Lending Technical Assistance Providers.
