About this grant

The goal of the project is to build the capacity of local government structures in Bosnia and Herzegovina to be responsive and accountable to people and to promote public participation in local decisionmaking.Multiyear funding will support the second phase of the project. Building on the experiences, methodologies and resources developed in the first phase, the project will work with 10 new municipalities in a variety of capacity-building activities. The municipalities were selected based on a needs assessment and represent Bosnia’s two republics and its ethnic diversity. Activities include training seminars and workshops, networking and introduction to other sources of information and expertise.During the first phase of the project, activities included identifying six municipalities; providing a series of training seminars and workshops on topics chosen by the participating municipalities; organizing tailored workshops; preparing original training and resource materials; and initiating a network of municipalities to share experiences and resources.
